The daggers came out in the bright of the bay,
We were poets and drunkards, lost in the decay,
Some words were muttered, some were cast in stones,
Thrown into the waters of the wilfully unknown.
What say you lover, my sister of the night?
Shall we trade our ancient language and drink til it gets light?
Keep spinning the bottle until it points away,
I guess we can agree to live to fight another day
I waged a war for your loving,
You lit the beacon that drew me into your valley,
Where I laid my arms down, surrendered to your body,
I built a monument for all that was amazing,
Will we still love what we find as we start to loose our minds?
Steal the cap from liberty beneath the storm washed pines?
Cold hands turn to the ghosts of what they will become,
Your eyes telling me softly somewhere it went wrong.
The cross you bear around your neck isn't what it seems,
It slides across your body chastening your dreams,
How can we act as if that was the way?
I know your cloth and crucifix get their kicks from dirty play.
I waged a war for your loving,
You lit the beacon that drew me to your valley,
I laid my arms down, surrendered to your beauty.
Where I built a monument for all that was amazing,
Oh those loving eyes, Oh good god those loving eyes,
I'd give them all I have, Until I am truly blind,
I'm as naked as the wind, calling your Atlantic tide,
I wish you all the best, And god damn it eternal rest.

Through this thick skin lies a tender heart,
It can take a sharp incision,
Can you cut with precision?
Or will you blindly hack at the surface position.
Through this thick skin the blood flow is chasing,
It moves without permission,
As you move without volition,
Will you pull back your blade from this surface position?
Something’s changing
Through this thick skin no mind can devour,
This molten heart condition,
There’s no need for dissection,
As you dive through the cracks of the surface position.

I take the easy flow,
I skim across the water,
Set free from the under tow,
Now I can never falter.
Rise up above the reeds,
Climb higher with the waves.
This salt it cures what bleeds.
As I become the everflow,
Life left its mark on me,
Made me out of scars,
There is no darkness left to see,
As I become the everflow
I fought the mighty hurricane,
I rode along the white tops,
Crashed onto the beaches,
Where the sun now warms my bones.
I need no more an anchor,
I need no flood defence
Freed from all the rancour.
I become the everflow.
